An exposé of the inner powers that manifest the yearning of the Soul.

Introduction

Historically, there are two methods of directing one’s life. The first and dominant method is to follow the specific direction given by external institutions such as family, school, church, or in the modern world, the media and marketing groups. These institutions not only define what the goals of life are but also define the means for obtaining those goals. This external direction is made quite obvious by considering the variations between the average lives of individuals who follow the directions given in different cultures.

The second method is to create one’s own direction. Those who do so are called heroic, enlightened, or as the American psychologist Abraham Maslow called them, inner directed. This method is associated with only a very small percentage of people today and yet those few are well known to change the world as well as themselves.

However, even the concept of two different types of people, which ancient religions described as the enlightened and those in bondage, has been declared to be blasphemous according to the largest external directing force in modern society, namely Political Correctness. This strong force is now dictating the direction that even religions and government take. It seems though, that almost all modern institutions support the PC edicts, since doing so increases institutional power over the masses by further stripping individuals of their power to direct and control their own lives.

This introduction serves as a warning to all who would read further, because this site questions the fundamental dogmas of Politically Correctness. These dogmas, some of which have even become the law of the land, are shown to be quite false by unadulterated ancient writings and generally unpublicized scientific truths.

Because of the large volume of writings on this subject, DirectingLife.com is limited to Western history and views on personal inner powers.

The Hidden Nature of Dionysos and Asclepius Revealed

The power of the god Dionysus, Dionysos, is symbolized by the power of wine or that power which can overpower the socially conditioned brain. The intoxicating power of wine was an excellent model for the universally described inner transformational fluid or elixir called by such names as ambrosia, amrita, soma or hormones.

Recent research demonstrates almost conclusively that the ancient life span of threescore and ten or more years can be explained in large part as due to the conscious control of the body's secretion of inner hormones.

Asclepius (Ασκλήπίος) is the early Greek god of healing. As will be shown, Asclepius is an excellent example of an allegorical god.

Directing Life by Robert L. Peck, Leslie M. Cassinari, & Christine S. Gavlick

This book offers proof after proof of the reality of an inner transformational power that many people have always known to exist. They remember from childhood how deep within themselves they knew what it meant to be good and also knew that they could obtain anything in their life that was deeply yearned and worked for. Somehow they were sure that anything was possible.

The book explains how the rise of controlling institutions gradually forced people to ignore this inner power and rely instead upon society’s external rules and teachings. The majority of people no longer follow the inner urgings of their hearts, but instead constantly judge themselves and others as to conformance to institutionally approved behavior or what ‘others might think.’

Directing Life reports upon the entirely opposite but universal views that prevailed more than two millennia ago. In those days, the gods and rulers required worship to sustain them and give them their powers. In return, they used their powers to bring harmony and union to the people. With a united people, the world could evolve as the majority could be trusted to use their inner powers to do what was good for themselves and others without tight external controls.

The book presents the recovered universal explanation for inner powers as well as the methods found by modern individuals who are able to create and continue the evolution of the world. In essence, individuals must learn to discern instead of rely upon conditioned judgments, to become inspired instead of merely obedient, and to become more vitalized and less robotic. The book supports the ancient concepts of inner powers with modern research and knowledge of the inner forces of the body and mind.

The delight in reading Directing Life is rediscovering that you can access your own inner powers to direct your life and that you are still able to find the open, developing relationships with others that you had as a child.

DirectingLife.com

DirectingLife.com presents data supporting the existence of creative inner powers within individuals that have been largely suppressed over the passing millennia. Most modern individuals are far more controlled by what they believe others will think of their actions than what they inwardly know.
